Sos Agaian

Sos Agaian is a Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the College of Staten Island and the Graduate Center, CUNY. Prior to joining the City University of New York, Dr. Agaian was a Peter T. Flawn Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering with the University of Texas at San Antonio. He was also a visiting professor at Tufts University. His current research interests include AI, computational vision, machine learning, big and small data analytics, cancer screening, multimodal biometrics and security. He has authored over 850 technical articles and ten books in these areas. He is listed as a co-inventor on 56 patents/disclosures, and multiple institutions have adopted the technologies he invented. Dr. Agaian is a fellow of SPIE, IS&T, AAAS, and AAIA and a Member of the European Academy. He is also an Associate Editor for several journals, including the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics and the Journal of Electronic Imaging (IS&T and SPIE). Dr. Agaian received his M.S. degree (summa cum laude) in Mathematics and Mechanics from Yerevan State University, Armenia; his Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics from the Steklov Institute of Mathematics, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS); and his Doctor of Engineering Sciences degree from the Institute of Control Systems, RAS.
