2023 International Conference on Big Data, Computational Intelligence and Applications (BDCIA2023) has been successfully held in Huanggang, China on November 3, 2023. It is organized by Huanggang Normal University. BDCIA is the important platform that brings both industry and academia for the dissemination of technological advances, research results and applications in the fields of Big Data, Computational Intelligence and Applications.The conference will provide a valuable opportunity for researchers and industry experts to exchange their ideas face to face.

Prof. Zhonglin He, Dean of the Computer School, Huanggang Normal University, delivered the opening speech in his capacity as the conference general chair.He introduced the main agenda and themes of the conference in his speech, and thanked all participants for their enthusiastic support. He also emphasized the importance of big data, computational intelligence and applications in today's world, which is also the original intention of this conference.

During the keynote part, speakers from all around the world attended the conference and delivered excellent speeches:

Dr. Muhammad Ishfaq of Huanggang Normal University gave a keynote speech entitled “Machine Learning at the Forefront of Drug Discovery: Advancements in Virtual Screening and Beyond”, discussing the application of machine learning in drug research and development, as well as the latest progress in fields such as virtual screening.

Prof. Ljiljana Trajkovićof Simon Fraser University, Canada delivered a keynote speech entitled“Machine Learning for Detecting Internet Traffic Anomalies”, discussing the application of machine learning in detecting Internet traffic, which is of great significance to network security.

Prof. Philip W. T. Pong of New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA delivered a keynote speech entitled “Contactless Sensing in Condition Monitoring and Anomaly Detection for Smart Grid: New Possibilities and Alternatives”, which is focused on smart grid monitoring and anomaly detection, as well as the application of contactless sensing technology.

Prof. Haibin Zhu of Nipissing University, Canada gave a keynote speech entitled “Group Role Assignment with Constraints (GRA+)”,exploring constraints in assigning roles to groups, which are critical for teamwork and collaboration.

Prof. Witold Pedrycz of University of Alberta, Canada made a keynote speech entitled “Data Privacy, Energy Awareness, Credibility and Interpretability of Models: Challenges in Machine Learning”,focusing on important issues such as data privacy, energy awareness, model credibility and interpretability in machine learning.

Prof. Zhao Zhang of Hefei University of Technology, China made a keynote speech on“Derain CycleGAN: Rain Attentive CycleGAN for SID and Rainmaking”,presenting a study on smart rainfall technology that promises to have a positive impact on meteorology and agriculture.

Prof. Vincenzo Piuri of Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy made a keynote speech on “Artificial Intelligence Cloud/Fog/Edge Computing and Internet-of-Things”, discussing the application of artificial intelligence in cloud, fog and edge computing, as well as the future development of IoT technology.

Prof. Xiaodong Liuof Edinburgh Napier University, UK gave a keynote speech on“Next Generation Internet of Things and Smart Systems”,paying attention to the development trends of the next generation of IoT and smart systems, which are very important for future smart cities and smart homes.

Prof. Hoshang Kolivand of Liverpool John Moores University, UK delivered a keynote speech on “AI and Mixed Reality Challenges: Current and Future Directions”, discussing the challenges of artificial intelligence and mixed reality, as well as future development directions.

Dr. Vishnu S. Pendyala of San Jose State University, USA delivered a speech on “Societal Implications of Artificial Intelligence and the Path Forward”,paying attention to the impact of artificial intelligence on society and its future development path.

Islam of Victoria University, Australia delivered a speech on “Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity: A Game Theory Solution - Technologies, Algorithm, Programming, Applications, and the Future”, discussingthe innovations in quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

These wonderful speeches provided participants with profound insights, inspired new thinking and research motivation, and brought a rich academic feast to the participants.

In addition, participants also shared the latest research results and insights in their respective fields in group discussions.

This conference covers multiple important topics in the fields of big data, computational intelligence and applications, including data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, Internet of Things, big data applications and more. Among them, the topic discussion on big data includes data collection, storage and processing technology, data analysis and visualization, and the application of big data in various fields, such as medical care, finance, logistics, etc. At the same time, discussions in the field of computational intelligence involve cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and image recognition, as well as the applications of these technologies in fields such as autonomous driving, smart cities, and smart manufacturing.
